Walk for Recovery

    Walk for Recovery

    Saturday, September 23rd, 2023

    Registration begins at 8:30am

We are no longer accepting online registrations for our 6th Annual Walk For Recovery

During National Recovery Month, Eden Counseling Centers hosts its annual “Walk for Recovery” to enhance awareness and understanding of mental health and substance use disorders, while celebrating those in recovery.

    GOAL

In addition to raising community conscious, the goal of the “Walk for Recovery” is to support the lives of those who have been affected by mental health, alcohol, and drug disorders in a healthy and fun environment.

    WHAT TO EXPECT

This year we will continue our in-person 5K walk-a-thon through downtown Columbus, Ohio.

    STATISTICS

The Kaiser Family Foundation (KFF) reported that in 2019-2020 there were 24.3% of adults in Ohio who reported any mental health concerns in the past year.

In 2020, 5,104 people died in Ohio of unintentional drug overdoses, which was a 3% increase over 2019, according to the Ohio Department of Health. Ohio was among the top three states with the highest drug overdose death rates in 2018, per the Kaiser Family Foundation (KFF).

The CDC announced that more than 932,000 people have died since 1999 from a drug overdose, with 107,622 occurring in 2021.

The Columbus Fire Department administered naloxone to 1,609 individuals during January-June 2020, per the OMHAS Ohio Substance Abuse Monitoring Network: Surveillance of Drug Abuse Trends in the State of Ohio.
